How SBT works for retailers?
With SBT the customer can really understand everything about the board he's about purchase. The Retailer can check a board online and see all the information that is placed in the SBT system, i.e. Blank type, make, model, dimensions, colour, fin system etc. Retailers don't need scanners to make the checks to access to the system it is all free and easy to use.
The moment you receive a surfboard in your stock with SBT, or request SBT for your stock, or want to offer the SBT the retro fit system into stock boards or as a services, you will need register for a license to use SBT. (This is free and applications are done online)
The moment an implanted board comes into stock from the Manufacturer, life is much easier. Each board can be tracked by its unique implant number making stock control straightforward and, if the worst happens and one or more are stolen, they will be black listed on the system and can be traced if some one tries to activate the SBT they will be caught out.
Scanning an implanted is not required - just tap in the board serial number written on the blank in the "board search facility" and the system will do the rest. The system will Provide surfboard data, shaper, Make, model, dimension, blank type, fins system etc
In a part exchange situation, ask the owner for the SBT board serial number which they should have on their board, or provide their SBT certificate of ownership, or ask them to access their SBT account. If they have no idea what you're talking about or can't tell you what the number is, it's time to be cautious.
Checking couldn't be easier - simply log in to your free account on the SBT website and click "Board lookup". Enter the implant number and immediately we'll tell you whether that board has been reported lost or stolen. (The system will run on a mobile phone, computer, laptops, Blackberry, any form of web browser)
Retailers registered on the SBT website are added to our searchable database. A rider looking for an SBT-approved retailer to have his board fitted with SBT can search by country in the surfers' section of the site.
