Alan Atkins
Byron specialist
Alan Atkins, surfer, based in Byron Bay, is well a respected surfer who holds a cv as long as your arm. Alan has won virtually every surf award you can think of in his native Australia and still competes in senior events.
Alan originally from Victoria, moved over to Byron Bay to get away from the cooler Victorian winters. The warmer climate and constant waves of Byron Bay suites his life style, there's hardly a day goes by when Alan isn't seen out in the line up.
Alan's, credentials in the management of Surfing Organizations and Surfing Events is not to be ignored. Atkins surfing credits include CEO of Surfing Australia from 1983 to 2004; National Team Manager for Surfing Australia from 1986 to 2004; Contest Director of the longest running pro surfing event, The Bells Beach Easter Classic (now Rip Curl Pro) from 1980 to 1984; and recently served second time round as Contest Director for the Noosa Festival of Surfing and while all this is going on he's planning for the World Surfing Games coming up, he even developed the ISA's training program for the 45 surfing country affiliates, this is training program that all the licensed training and affiliated surf schools use world wide.
Alan has always recognised the potential of SBT from very early on and ever since has been our surfing Ambassador. Alan is a great guy and we are proud to be associated with him.
